You Should Be Dancing is a single by the Bee Gees, from the album, Children of the World, in 1976. The single hit number one for one week on the should be dancing, yeah Dancing, yeah. You should be dancing, yeah Dancing, yeah Shes juicy and shes trouble She gets it to me good My woman gives me power Goes right down to my blood What you doing on your back What you doing on your back You should be dancing, yeah Dancing, yeah What you doing on your back, aah What you doing on your back, aah You should be dancing, yeah Dancing, yeah My baby moves at midnight Goes right on till the dawn My woman takes me higher My woman keeps me warm What you doing on your back, aah What you doing on your back, aah . You Should Be Dancing is a song by the Bee Gees, from the album Children of the World, released in 1976. It hit No. 1 for one week on the American Billboard Hot 100, No. 1 for seven weeks on the US Hot Dance Club Play chart, and in September the same year, reached No. 5 on the UK Singles Chart. The song also peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Soul chart. It was this song that first launched the Bee Gees into disco. It was also the only track from the group to top the dance chart. You Should Be Dancing was included on the soundtrack along with five other songs performed by the Bee Gees plus another they wrote: If I Can't Have You by Yvonne Elliman. The album sold over 15 million copies in the US, marking the Bee Gees as a disco act when their earlier output was more charitably classified as blue-eyed soul. Decades later, a new generation discovered the group's earlier work and the disco taint began to fade, but for Barry Gibb, the memories of the backlash didn't. It still haunts me like hell, he told Mojo in 2001 abou. Initially released in 1976 on the album Children of the World, You Should Be Dancing was later released on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. The song also found itself atop not one, but two different charts - the Billboard Hot 100 and the US Hot Dance Club Play chart. Thanks to the latter, it is the only BeeGees track to top the dance chart . Lyrics Bee Gees - You Should Be Dancing. By the time they recorded You Should Be Dancing, the Bee Gees had already firmly remade themselves as a disco sensation. Plenty of older pop musicians were playing catchup to disco by 1976. The Bee Gees, meanwhile, were inhabiting the sound, remaking themselves in discos image while they remade disco in their own image. They were naturals. But shortly after they came back with the Main Course album, Robert Stigwood, their manager and label boss, switched the distribution of his RSO label from Atlantic to Polydor. Mardin couldnt work with anyone who wasnt signed to Atlantic. He was contractually barred from producing the Bee Gees. Album 2009 40 Songs.
