Album

I'm Gonna Be a Country Girl Again is the fifth album by Cree singersongwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie. As its title suggested, it saw her embrace Nashville country music with the help of session veterans such as the Jordanaires, Grady Martin, Roy M. Huskey, Jr. and Floyd Cramer. The album included re-recordings of Now That the Buffalo's Gone and The Piney Wood Hills from her first and second albums respectively. Tall Trees in Georgia, in contrast to most of the material, showed Sainte-Marie. Vanguard Visionaries. Buffy Sainte-Marie. Native American Child: An Odyssey. Fire Fleet And Candlelight. It'S My Way. Again Written By Buffy Saint-Marie Buffy's beautiful Canadian Country Music single release peaked 86 on the Canadian. From Buffy's really wonderful Vanguard Records album I'm Gonna Be A Country Girl Again. And, one hopes, she'll never be a country girl again. Buffy Sainte-Marie went to Nashville to record this album, with help from such session vets as Grady Martin, Floyd Cramer, and the Jordanaires. As expected, it doesn't gel that well, although it's not as poor as you might fear. Sainte-Marie's strengths, though, are best amplified by folk material her vibrato isn't suited for Nashville country. Predictably, the best songs are the ones which most recall her early folkie work.
